Carlton's thin ice
Carlton will be 18 in a month. That time will pass quickly. Too quickly for us as we have concerns about his choices. Today Scott drove to Millington to have a sit down meeting with the Ranch director and Carlton. Scott and Troy had talked about the needs and about the future. Carltons incident last week of hitting a younger boy and hurting him...the first time in nine years something that serious has happened. Carlton has things he needs to work on! They talked about his history of quitting when things get tough. Carlton was surprised to have the meeting, but not upset. Of course he has a friend Joe who said he could come live with him if he wanted to leave the ranch. <sigh> Thankfully the Ranch director asked appropriate questions, "So Joe's parents are going to pay for all your clothes and food and medical bills and.......". Carlton had no answer (of course not). Thoughts had gone that far. They reasoned and talked, I have hope that he was receptive....but that's about it, he did not seem to change his mind or tell them he'd hang in there.
One of the boys Carlton always shares about (the success story....graduated and entered Army....success to Carlton)....today Scott found out he was 19.5 when he did that. It once again nails in the desire of the Ranch to see young men successful too! They will help Carlton and we will help Carlton as long as he chooses well.
It's a tough thing.
