If the law of the land limits gun control, then I will abide. I will peaceably abide because the Bible tells me to.
"Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God." Romans 13:1"Be subject for the Lord's sake to every human institution, whether it be to the emperor as supreme, or to governors as sent by him to punish those who do evil and to praise those who do good. For this is the will of God, that by doing good you should put to silence the ignorance of foolish people. Live as people who are free, not using your freedom as a cover-up for evil, but living as servants of God. Honor everyone. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the emperor." 1 Peter 2:13-17
I will honor the laws of this land. I can live peaceably with those laws if they come to pass. I would hope we all can. The concept reminded me a lot of the church. So often we have strong feelings about how an issue should be dealt with and we struggle when the Elders choose. The same live your life peaceably with respect is there too.
Obey your spiritual leaders, and do what they say. Their work is to watch over your souls, and they are accountable to God. Give them reason to do this with joy and not with sorrow. That would certainly not be for your benefit. Hebrews 13:17Being a peacemaker applies to ALL of our lives....every event....every happening....every thing and every cause....nothing should get between us and being what God has called us to be.....certainly not a gun.
“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God. Matthew 5:9
This one we all have said since children:) It seems so easy!
"If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all." Romans 1:18
This is the ownership peace. You cannot control how others act/feel/behave....but you have total control of yourself.
They have healed the wound of my people lightly, saying, ‘Peace, peace,’ when there is no peace. Jeremiah 8:11
The example....if we live well, others notice and others follow suit. We can bring peace by living with peace.
The older I get the more I love peacemakers and the more I realize it is a choice they make!! I love that....and when I fail to be one I am thankful God will give me tomorrow to try again!!
What an incredible thing it would be to stand before the Lord and be called a peacemaker!!!!
